Map:  82 O/4 Banff

Cascade and Rundle are the two classic scrambles at Banff, and since the first ascent in 1887 by Tom Wilson, thousands have probably tramped to the top. Decades ago, locals placed a mirror on top that reflected down Banff Avenue. Canmore writer Ralph Connor once wrote of finding the fossil remains of a prehistoric monster on top in an entertaining, whimsical account. The party graciously claimed to have left the remains up there for all to see. Suffice to say, it is unlikely that scramblers will discover anything so unusual, although you may see interesting rocks, if nothing else. Try this peak from July on, when the snow has cleared off the fossilized monsters(!).
