BERTHA PEAK
Elevation: 2440m
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate Scramble
Round Trip Time: 4-7 hours
Height Gain: 1150 m
Map: 82 H/4 Waterton Lakes |
Bertha Peak is an easy ascent from nearby Bertha Lake. The
lake is a popular day hike from Waterton town site, but the
mountain will be far less crowded. Less ambitious partners can
loll at the lake while you gaze over steep cliffs to the
masses far below, or glimpse big peaks in Glacier National
Park. An ice axe could be needed for early season trips; try
from mid-June on. |

A
look back to Bertha Lake as Adam and I continued making our
way up the rock steps. |
 |
Unfortunately we did not make it all the way to the summit.
However, the view of Waterton Lakes was already impressive. |
 |
Another look down onto Bertha Lake from as high as we managed
to get on this day. |
 |
Cindy and Debbie were patiently waiting for us below the
cooling spray of the waterfalls. |
